Meet D Conti: Why I Started D Conti Living

Welcome to the D Conti blog! I am so excited to be sharing my story and passion with you and through it I hope to connect with you on whichever level you currently reside. Here’s a little background on myself, Dorothee Conti, my business, D Conti Living and the brand I’ve created to better serve all of you!

MY BACKGROUND:

Growing up in Germany, my architect father and my super talented interior decorating wizard of a mother should’ve had their own HGTV show. Our house was a never ending creative zone where my parents remodeled our house over what must have been a 10 years span. Walls came down, walls went up. Remodeling, decorating, rearranging..rinse repeat. But actually, it all started with my grandmother from Czechoslovakia. She was obsessed with rearranging the home and there are anecdotes of my mother’s bruised shins in the search of the familiar furniture placement when she came home after dark. It’s in my blood, I can’t help it. Nothing energizes me more than the perfect solution for a room composition or finding the perfect accessory to create a look out of a magazine. It’s downright therapy for me. When matters of the world bug me, I go home and organize or restyle my space.

Professionally, I initially thought my calling was in fashion. After attending fashion trade school in Berlin, my life took an unexpected but welcomed turn when I met my then future husband and moved to the US. We bought a house in Austin, Texas and you guessed it, we remodeled it. I earned a degree from UT Austin and I ended up with a 12 years career in real estate management where my favorite thing was to furnish model homes and manage rehab projects.

I moved to San Diego in 2014, because I needed a creative change and where better to chase and formulate your dreams than in Southern California. While still in property management, I took classes in interior design on the weekends as well as became a certified feng shui consultant. I took on small jobs here and there, always longing for more opportunities to live my passion.

In 2017, I finally decided it was time to take what I had learned and what I loved and turn it into a business to help others. D Conti Living was conceived.

D CONTI MISSION:

D Conti Living utilizes Form and Compass School Feng Shui as well as Interior Design principles to transform homes and work spaces into the thriving and beautiful environments you desire.

D CONTI VISION:

I believe in creating spaces and environments that provide harmony, joy, and abundance.

The D CONTI BRAND:

The D Conti Living brand is a direct reflection of my mission and vision for my business. We chose fonts that were professional and still visually interesting. D Conti, as you may have figured out by now, is the combination of my first initial and last name. I chose “Living” as opposed to “Interiors” or “Designs” to better represent my holistic approach.

Feng Shui is the consistent thread in all of my services, as I make sure to pay attention to the energy, light, and flow in all the spaces I am designing. As a result, the logo incorporates three concentric quarter-circles to represent a ripple effect like a drop in water or a zen garden. The shapes radiate outward, bringing life to the typography and creating a sense of expansive energy.

My color palette also reflects the kind of feeling I want my clients to feel in their new spaces. Calm, refined, and soothing with warm and inviting undertones.
